Warrants for Arrest

Warrants for ArrestWhen drivers receive infractions and misdemeanors on the road, it may seem like they are typically not a big deal.  This can be true for those that pay their fines on time and are sure to make all of their hearings and court dates. When these actions slip a driver’s mind though, traffic tickets are going to take on a whole new meaning. Without the aid of an experienced attorney from Traffic Ticket Justice, drivers are going to be looking at arrest warrants that could cause them trouble for the rest of their lives.

An arrest warrant can be placed on an individual for any number of reasons, but there are a few circumstances that all drivers should understand. One of the most common reasons for having a warrant placed on a driver is for a failure to appear in court (FTA). When signing a ticket that has a court date placed on it, drivers are not admitting guilt. Instead, they are legally promising that they are going to show up to court on the specified date.  If they do not show up, the judge will issue an FTA, or bench warrant.

A bench warrant for arrest is slightly different than other forms of active, or search warrants. These may be executed by a law enforcement officer for one of a few reasons. This includes if the drivers name is searched, such as during a routine traffic stop, or in any public place.

Warrants for arrest are also issued at an alarming rate for a failure to pay, or FTP. This is when a driver has not paid fines on any number of previous tickets, including minor infractions. The time frame in which to pay these fines is dependent on the type of violations and the amount that is owed, but a warrant could be placed in as little as 30 to 60 days after the due date.
